Dundee United's touching NHS gesture as club unfurl tribute flag

As the dust settled on a day of fervour and mud-slinging in Scottish football, everyone can agree on one thing.

There are some things that are more important than the sport we all love.

That point is hammered home by the weekly applause for NHS staff saving lives up and down the country.

And football clubs have been paying their respects to our front-line heroes in their own special ways as humanity continues to battle the coronavirus pandemic.

Dundee United have revealed a poignant tribute to the health service at Tannadice.

A flag adorned with the blue NHS logo now proudly flies at the home of the Tangerines.

Meanwhile League Two side Elgin City have written their own thank you message - on the Borough Briggs turf.

United were crowned champions and will play in the Scottish Premiership next season after the season was ended early due to COVID-19, while Elgin are set to miss out on a play-off spot.
