Dundee United player faces Motherwell despite 'positive Covid test yesterday'

A Dundee United player who tested positive for Covid yesterday is in tonight's squad to face Motherwell.

The Steelmen host the Tangerines in a Premiership clash at Fir Park and a member of the visiting side is set to play after testing positive for the virus in the routine round of testing, but subsequently returning a negative test today through the NHS.

Motherwell boss Graham Alexander has responded to the news on BBC Scotland after the player was cleared to be involved, telling them ahead of kick-off that "he trusts the authorities."

Guidelines have recently changed where a NHS test supersedes the routine testing check carried out, the results of which were returned yesterday.

No other players or staff at United returned positive tests in the latest testing.
