Dundee United make wage cut request to players and Micky Mellon as Covid-19 cash concerns grow

Dundee United have asked their players and staff to take a 20 per cent wage cut for the rest of the season.

The Tannadice club are looking for their squad members and management staff to take the hit as they look to deal with the impact of Covid-19.

But according to a report, summer signings Ryan Edwards and Jeando Fuchs aren't included in the proposals to the shock of the rest of the squad.

Micky Mellon and his backroom staff have also been asked to take the cuts with the financial impact of the pandemic.

The Sun says no agreement have been reached with the players so far but the United hierarchy are worried by the ongoing crisis.

With no gate money coming in, they have been rocked by the lack of income and want to slash costs.

But they will also consider a sale of star man Lawrence Shankland to the highest bidder in the January transfer window.

Youngsters Kerr Smith and Logan Chalmers are also being watched by top clubs and they could look to cash in on them.
