Dundee United decide against signing St Mirren's Jake Doyle-Hayes as agent continues to stall

St Mirren midfielder Jake Doyle-Hayes' future is back up in the air after an expected switch to Dundee United fell through.

The 22-year-old had agreed terms with the Terrors and looked set to finalise his move away from Paisley this week.

But according to the Dundee Courier, the move has now collapsed after the Tannadice club tired of the player's representative stalling in a bid to speak to other clubs.

St Mirren offered Doyle-Hayes a new contract at the end of last year in bid to keep him at the SMISA Stadium, with Buddies boss Jim Goodwin reiterating his desire to hang on to the former Aston Villa youth at the end of the season.

It's now unclear where the Irish midfielder will ply his trade next season, with clubs north and south of the border still keen to bag his signature when his current Saints deal expires this summer.

The influential player made 30 appearances in total for the Paisley club last season, scoring once against Livingston.

Goodwin has already brought in midfield reinforcements this summer in the form of Kilmarnock's Alan Power.
