Dundee United boss Tam Courts shows racism the red card after Jeando Fuchs abuse allegation as Malky Mackay criticises 'premeditated' move

Dundee United boss Tam Courts showed racism the red card after his star Jeando Fuchs claimed he was abused by a Ross County fan.

But Staggies boss Malky Mackay believes he jumped the gun by waving a T-shirt sporting the anti-racist slogan in front of the visiting support.

Fuchs was visibly distraught after an incident in the aftermath of Ilmari Niskanen's opening goal.

He claims to have heard a "racist shout" coming from the away end and United have since confirmed they are investigating the alleged abuse.

After the game, Courts took to the pitch holding up a T-shirt emblazoned "show racism the red card" - the name of a well-known anti-racist charity which aims to kick discrimination out of football.

He appeared emotional as he held it up in front of a section of the visiting support as he made his stance on racism clear.

However County boss Mackay appeared frustrated by Courts' gesture and questioned the motives behind it.

“I thought it was an interesting thing to do considering he doesn’t know exactly what has happened," Mackay said.

“It is clearly premeditated because that red t-shirt isn’t sitting on the bench.

“For a manager to do that was an interesting situation and something that was an interesting judgement call to make.”

Fuchs was named man of the match in the win that leaves Dundee United fifth in the Premiership table.

County go into the international break yet to find their first league win of the season.
