Dundee United boss Robbie Neilson wins case against SFA misconduct charge

Robbie Neilson won't face any action from the SFA after winning his case against a misconduct charge.

The Dundee United boss was hit with a notice of complaint last month after being sent to the stand in a 2-1 defeat at Partick Thistle.

Neilson was accused of breaching disciplinary rule 203 following the incident at Firhill which saw referee Alan Newlands send him off. That states "no member of team staff shall commit misconduct".

However an independent disciplinary panel sitting at Hampden on Wednesday found the case not proven.

The 38-year-old was ordered to the stand at half time of the match on March 9 with United trailing 1-0.

He said after the match: “The referee sent me to the stand at half time for allegedly saying something to him, which I didn’t say. I think that has influenced him in his decision later on.

"I don't think he will look back on it with the greatest of happiness at what he was like today.”

Neilson is now free to take his place in the dug out for the remainder of the campaign with United six points behind leaders Ross County heading into the final three matches.
