Dundee talks with Maloney break down

Shaun Maloney move to Dundee off as talks break down

SHAUN MALONEY'S prospective move to Dundee has collapsed after talks between the two parties 'broke down over a number of issues', according to reports.

The former Scotland internationalist, who had a brief stint at Hibernian last season that ended with his dismissal four months into the job, was believed to be the frontrunner for the vacancy at Dens Park after Mark McGhee was sacked following the club's relegation to the Championship.

However, the BBC report that any deal is now dead in the water after negotiations between the 39-year-old and the Tayside club reached a number of sticking points.

The report adds that Dundee technical director Gordon Strachan is now on the lookout for alternative candidates, while Maloney has been linked with a coaching role at Burnley as part of former Belgium internationalist Vincent Kompany's backroom staff - should the former Manchester City defender land the top job at Turf Moor.
