Dundee nightclub closes for business restructure

A well known nightclub has closed down in order to restructure its business.

The Reading Rooms in Dundee - known as the Small Town Club - held its last event on Saturday but its owner hopes to reopen on May 15, with a one-off pencilled in for May 5.

It said the venue had struggled to stay afloat over the last six months. Big names who have played there over the years include Biffy Clyro, DJ Andrew Weatherall and dub legend Lee 'Scratch' Perry.

A statement read: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support over the last 17 years.

“The last six months at The Small Town Club have been the most difficult in all our time operating, pushing us to the brink of closure.

“We have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our doors after Locarno this evening, Saturday April 20, taking a step back to restructure our business strategy, giving us a better chance to secure the Reading Rooms for the future.”
