Dundee car fire sparks late night emergency response

Emergency crews were called to a residential street in Dundee after a car fire last night.

The incident happened on Watson Street close to the Broughty Ferry Road at about 8pm.

One fire engine from the Kingsway station attended and the blaze was brought under control very quickly.

A police spokesman later confirmed the incident was not being treated as suspicious. It is understood a mechanical fault within the vehicle may have triggered the fire.

A spokesman for Scottish Fire and Rescue said: “We received reports of a car on fire in Watson Street just after 8pm.

“One appliance from Kingsway East was called to the scene.

“A stop call was put in at 8.32pm.”
