Dundee businesses urged to sign up for major carbon capture event in the city

Dundee businesses, organisations and individuals will be offered practical carbon reduction advice at a major net zero event in the city tomorrow.

The workshop forms part of the UN-backed Race to Zero and Together for Our Planet campaigns.

It is being provided by Planet Mark – a leading sustainability and net zero certification group.

The event can be attended in person or online and is being held at Dundee Science Centre.

It will include a chance to see a fully electric-powered “carbon battle bus” that is visiting 30 towns and cities across the UK.

The Tour began in Cambridge and will finish in Glasgow for COP26.

Dundee City Council leader John Alexander said: “Dundee’s climate action plan includes a commitment to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045 or sooner.

“In order to achieve that, we need to act now. And there are things we can all do, from large organisations like the city council to individuals and families, in order to play our part.

“As COP26 approaches, this event is a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the importance of net zero, and get practical advice on how you can reduce your own carbon footprint and help shape a brighter future.”

Steve Malkin, founder and CEO of Planet Mark, said: “We look forward to gathering in-person and online with the Dundee community to talk about how all organisations, communities and individuals can contribute to the fight against climate change by committing to net zero carbon. Through the critical Race to Zero we can all play a part in our planet’s future”.
