Dundas Street incident: Bomb squad called to Unicorn Antiques in Edinburgh over ammunition fears

Bomb disposal teams were called to an Edinburgh antiques shop earlier on Wednesday.

Police tape was erected outside Unicorn Antiques, on Dundas Street in the New Town, this morning after an item described as "possible ammunition" was discovered there.

A Police Scotland bomb disposal van could be seen parked on the street, while shocked members of the public looked on.

A person who works at Unicorn Antiques told Edinburgh Live: "They [the police] were here earlier to check something but have left now. It's nothing to worry about."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are currently in attendance on Dundas street, Edinburgh, after being alerted to reports of possible ammunition being found.

“A cordon has been put in place with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team contacted around 11.20am.”

Police have confirmed that the bomb squad have since left the scene.
