Dundalk win celebrated by Sopranos star in colourful video message

Few people were more happy to see Shamrock Rovers' unbeaten run come to an end on Friday night than a former Sopranos star.

TV star Joseph R. Gannascoli, who played Vito Spatafore in the hit show, is apparently a die-hard fan of Dundalk who ended the Hoops' 33-game unbeaten stretch with a 2-1 win at Oriel Park.

In a video message filled with colourful language, Gannascoli said: "We beat the Shams like a golf club beat my brother Bryan. And 'Fats' he got the opener, Patrick McEleney. My boy, way to go kid, you fat b******."

The actor is even wearing a Dundalk shirt and hat in the video that is the surreal product of Irish Celebrity Video shoutout site irishify.com.

Friday's night win was a major boost for Dundalk who have endured a torrid start to the season both on and off the pitch. It was a victory that saw them move level on points with sixth-placed Bohemians.

And Gannascoli believes it was the only start of the Lilywhites rediscovering their best form. He cheered: "Come on the Town, let's f***ing go."
