Dundalk striker Nathan Oduwa on 'scary' experience of living in London during Covid-19 lockdown

Dundalk's new striker Nathan Oduwa has revealed the "scary" experience of living in London during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Oduwa, 24, had only been with the SSE Airtricity League champions for three days when he returned to the English capital.

"London was quite scary, especially where I’m from in the centre of the city which is probably the busiest part of England," said Oduwa.

"It was just empty, like a ghost town.

“There were no shops open and at one point I didn’t hear a car on my road.

"Seeing the numbers going up and up and up on the news every day, it was scary."

Oduwa has returned to Dundalk and the Lilywhites will return to training on Monday, having undergone two Covid-19 tests over the past two weeks and all returning negative.

“The scary part for me was not me potentially getting ill, it was me having the illness and passing it on to family members," Oduwa told Dundalk's website.

“I just had to make sure I was safe every time I came in from a workout or whenever I went out jogging.

“Everybody is fine, thankfully. My mum works for the NHS and she’s had a test done and she’s fine and since I’ve been back in Dundalk all the players have been tested and we’re all fine.

"Thank God because it’s a scary time for the world and to be still fit and healthy is a blessing”.
