Dundalk were without star man Michael Duffy against Riga on Wednesday after he became a father while his side were battling the Latvian side in extra-time.
The 24-year-old winger opted to stay at home to be by his partner's side as they expected their first child while his team-mates jetted off to Latvia for the Champions League qualifier that was worth a whopping €1.2 million to the club.
And Dundalk were held to 0-0 after more than two hours of football, with goalkeeper Gary Rogers and defender Sean Hoare the heroes as the Lillywhites defeated Riga in a penalty shootout.
In fact, Duffy was keeping track of his team's affairs as his partner, Emily McCarron, gave birth to their newborn son while the game was in extra-time.
Dad and baby Eli Michael Duffy were together to watch Dundalk's big win as they booked a spot in the second round against Azerbaijan side Qarabag.
