Dundalk snap up former USA international winger Joshua Gatt

Dundalk have signed former United States international Joshua Gatt.

A former team-mate of Kevin Doyle’s at Colorado Rapids, the 28-year-old winger has agreed a short-term deal at Oriel Park.

The Michigan native has already featured for the Lilywhites as he faced Longford Town in a pre-season game.

Gatt said: “I’m extremely honored and excited to begin this new chapter of my professional career with Dundalk.

“I can’t wait to get started with this fantastic club. I couldn’t have asked for a better situation to start back up and tackle the league and European football.”

Gatt was at Norwegian side Molde between 2011 and 2016 where he was signed by current Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

But he was hampered by some serious knee injuries and returned home to Minnesota United and then Colorado Rapids and Detroit City.

Gatt  also had two spells with Austrian side Rheindorf Altach, having kick-started his European adventure with them in 2010 before returning in 2018.

He was capped by the United States in senior friendlies against Russia and Canada in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
