Dundalk have wrapped up the signing of current Latvian international Raivis Andris Jurkovskis.
Capped 13 times, the defender, 24, has moved to Oriel Park on a free transfer from FK Liepaja.
Dundalk were in the market for a fullback after Sean Gannon joined Shamrock Rovers while Dane Massey left the club yesterday.
“Raivis can play at full-back, on either side,” said Lilywhites boss Filippo Giovagnoli. “He’s a really good player, strong, fast and physical.
“He’s considered as one of the best players in Latvia and when we started to watch him, we had no doubt he was the player for us.”
South Korean attacking player Han Eui-Kwon is also on Dundalk’s radar as the club throws the net far and wide in search of new recruits.
Earlier this week, the FAI Cup holders signed Albanian goalkeeper Alessio Abibi.
Club stalwart Massey confirmed his departure last night after eight successful years with the Lilywhites where he won five leagues, three FAI Cups and three EA Sports Cup.
On social media, Massey wrote: “It’s with a heavy heart to say that I’ll not be returning to Dundalk FC this season.
“I have spent the least 8 years there and have had such a great experience. I never thought when I signed for Dundalk it would take me on the ride of a lifetime.
“I would like to thank all the players and staff who I have played and worked with over the years, and also to the amazing fans for welcoming me and my family to the club.
“I’ll cherish the memories.”
Elsewhere, Lee Desmond and Robbie Benson have both agreed contract extensions with St Patrick's Athletic for the 2021 season.
