Dundalk have already parked league title celebrations says Sean Hoare

Sean Hoare claims Dundalk have already parked their league title celebrations as focus shifts to the treble.

The centre-back got the party started at Oriel Park on Monday, scoring the first goal in a 3-2 win over Shamrock Rovers that secured back-to-back crowns.

But while the players swigged on bottles of beer in the changing room and were allowed out that night, they were back on the training ground yesterday.

And Hoare insists they are hungrier than ever as they bid to emulate the Derry City side of 1988/89 by winning the domestic treble.

With two trophies already secured, Dundalk face Sligo Rovers in a crunch FAI Cup semi-final at the Showgrounds on Sunday.

Hoare said: “The treble is two games away and we have to concentrate on that.

“Winning league is special and you have to enjoy it as you might not win another, you just don’t know.

“But we’ve a massive game on Sunday and we have to prepare
for it.”

Hoare revealed how Dundalk’s title win was built on some home truths being shared in the dressing room after their April blip.

The Lilywhites lost back-to-back league games against St Pat’s and Sligo Rovers and Hoare said: “It was a kick in the backside for us.”

He continued: “After that, a few things were ironed out for us in the dressing room.

“We had it out between us and then we got it going from then. We were determined from there but we didn’t see this coming, this big mad (domestic 29-game) unbeaten run.”
