Duncan Sinclair bemoans "rank rotten" performance as Arthurlie slump to fourth straight defeat

Arthurlie’s poor run of form continued after they slumped to a fourth straight defeat in a row.

Championship title hunters Cumbernauld were in fine form at Dunterlie Park, with Scott Thomson scoring in each half to grab all three points for the visitors.

And manager Duncan Sinclair said he couldn’t recognise his own side after a “rank rotten” Lie performance, particularly in the first half.

“The first 45 minutes were an embarrassment to be honest,” he told Express Sport.

“I couldn’t even believe it was us on the pitch. We were rank rotten. There was no passion or desire anywhere on the park.

“The only positive to take from the game was that it was only 1-0 at half-time.

“I gave them a good rollicking at the break to try and wake them up a bit.

“We played a bit better in the second half but struggled to make any really good chances.

“We pushed on in the last 20 minutes and they caught us on the break, but there’s no getting away from the fact we were really poor on the day.”

Sinclair admits he has a job on his hands to lift his players’ spirits as their poor form continues.

And he hopes he can build their confidence up this week before a crunch game against local rivals Neilston.

He said: “We played a bounce game on Wednesday before the Cumbernauld game and we were happy with how that went.

“We picked a team on Saturday we thought could win, with a blend of experienced heads and some younger players.

“We’re quite an upbeat team generally but the heads are just down at the moment.

“We need to have a chat and a bit of a soul search and hopefully get their confidence built up. We’re a good side.”

“That’s four losses in a row now so we might look at rotating the squad a bit to give a few boys a break and another few a chance to make an impact.”
