ANN ARBOR, Mich. _ Fifth-year senior Duncan Robinson hit a season-high six 3-pointers for 18 points off the bench, helping Michigan cruise past Iowa, 74-59, on Wednesday night at Crisler Center.
Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman added 18 points on 7-for-13 shooting and a team-high seven assists with no turnovers for Michigan. Moritz Wagner chipped in 14 points, five rebounds and four steals, and Charles Matthews finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Forward Luka Garza led Iowa with 22 points on 10-for-16 shooting.
Robinson made six of his first eight 3-point attempts. He made three consecutive 3-pointers over a span of 73 seconds to give Michigan a 58-42 lead with 10:01 left.
Robinson has made 10-for-15 3-pointers over his past two games.
The six 3-pointers were the most Robinson has made for Michigan since he hit six against Northern Kentucky on Dec. 15, 2015.
Robinson made a career-best seven 3-pointers against Bowdoin College on Jan. 17, 2014 when he played for NCAA Division III Williams College.
Grad transfer Jaaron Simmons finished with five points and four assists in 12 minutes for Michigan. It was the first time he has played at least 10 minutes in back-to-back games since November. He scored three points in 10 minutes in the win at Wisconsin on Sunday. Simmons replaced starting point guard Zavier Simmons three minutes into Wednesday's game. Simmons hit a 3-pointer 4 { minutes into the game to cut Michigan's deficit to 9-8. Simmons also had a steal and a layup to give U-M a 19-14 lead with 10:48 left in the first half.
Matthews missed eight of 10 shots, but grabbed seven rebounds, in the first half. He missed his first five shots, but gave Michigan a 29-20 lead on a dunk with seven minutes left in the first half.
Matthews then missed a couple layups and an open triple from the corner. He made a layup with 33 seconds left to give the Wolverines a 37-24 cushion.
Freshman forward Isaiah Livers, wearing a left ankle brace, returned to the starting lineup for Michigan. He missed Michigan's win at Wisconsin, after suffering an ankle sprain two minutes into a 61-52 loss at Northwestern on Feb. 6.
Freshman forward Jack Nunge (6 feet 11, 225) started for the 10th time this season and first since Michigan's 75-68 win in Iowa City on Jan. 2.
Michigan committed three turnovers and trailed 9-2 three minutes into the game. The Wolverines outscored Iowa 35-15 over the remainder of the half. Wagner led Michigan with 10 points and four rebounds in the first half, while Robinson chipped in nine points.
Tyler Cook came into the game averaging 15.4 points and 6.5 rebounds for Iowa. He scored a game-high 28 points in Iowa's 75-68 loss to Michigan in Iowa City, Iowa on Jan. 2. The Wolverines limited Cook to 10 points.
