Duncan Ferguson to take new on football role that rules him out for next Everton manager

Former Everton caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson is poised to take his first step into management.

The ex-Blues striker is currently out of work after leaving his post as assistant manager to Frank Lampard last July. He parted company with the club due to wanting to fulfil his ambitions of becoming a manager.

Ferguson has taken caretaker charge of Everton on two occasions, and has been linked with the job once again. Following the sacking of Lampard on Monday, Ferguson was one of the names linked with taking over the vacancy.

However, according to The Times, Ferguson is set to take on a different role. It has been claimed that Ferguson is set to be named as manager of Forest Green Rovers.

The League One club are currently bottom of the table and recently parted company with Ian Burchnall. Now it’s claimed that the Greens are set to name Ferguson as their new boss.

It has been reported that Ferguson has already met with club officials at Forest Green, and is set to be confirmed as the club’s new manager. Suggestions are an announcement could even come today.

Everton are still continuing their search for a replacement for Lampard. So far, the likes of Marcelo Bielsa, Sean Dyche, Sam Allardyce and Ralph Hasenhuttl have been the early names linked with the job.
