Duncan Ferguson slammed for Moise Kean snub and told to learn from Klopp and Guardiola

Former Everton star Andy Gray has explained that a top manager like Jurgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola would have dealt with Moise Kean in a more sympathetic way.

Temporary Toffees boss Duncan Ferguson hauled Kean off in the 89th minute of their clash with Manchester United - less than 20 minutes after substituting him on.

Italy international Kean was visibly furious with the decision as Oumar Niasse was brought on - as he blanked Ferguson and walked back to the dressing room.

And Gray reckons that Klopp, Guardiola or Jose Mourinho wouldn't have ignored the player they had just embarrassed in front of millions of people - and warned the Scot that he may well have "lost" Kean.

"He's 19 years of age is Moise Kean," Gray said on beIN Sports. "When he had possession he wasn't great but there is one minute to go.

"You potentially have a really good player there, you don't know, but based on a couple of performances at Juventus last year he's got something - even if we haven't seen it yet at Everton .

"I don't know what Duncan's thought was.

"You could have given him a rollocking from the touchline and told him to get moving a little bit more but I don't know why he's done that. He's probably lost the kid now.

"If someone like Mourinho, Klopp or Guardiola had done that we would be thinking 'why has he done that?'

"But these guys are experienced coaches and there would be a reason. Even those guys wouldn't have just blanked him.

"Klopp would have grabbed him and told him to listen and Guardiola would have hugged him.

"Remember when Klopp brought Henderson off and he walked past him. The coach was like 'hold on you don't do that to me. If one of us is unhappy then you whisper in his ear that we'll sort it in the dressing room'."

Ex-Liverpool defender John Arne Riise was furious with Ferguson for his dealing of Kean.

Riise also said on beIN Sports: "He knows when he puts him with 20 minutes to go that it is going to be a hectic ending - Man Utd are going to be pushing and pushing.

"Sometimes in football you have to look at the human part as well because yes there is a football match going on but he is destroying this young boy's confidence.

"He doesn't even shaken his hand or anything. He probably doesn't speak the language and that sort of thing and he has absolutely destroyed the young boy.

"You don't do that. It doesn't matter how important the game is you have to think about the person."
