Duncan Ferguson will reportedly snub interest from Real Madrid to be a part of Carlo Ancelotti's backroom team.
The Scot served as the Italian’s assistant at Everton and has been offered a role in his coaching team at the Bernabeu.
However, The Sun report that he will turn down the offer in the hope of being named as Toffees boss.
Ferguson previously held the role on a temporary basis in 2019 following the departure of Marcos Silva when he claimed five points from three games.
The iconic former Rangers striker will look to name Lee Carsley as his number two if he lands the hot seat.
Ferguson is a huge favourite with the fans from his playing days and his time as Ancelotti’s joint-assistant manager.
The former Scotland international will hope to build on Ancelotti's mid-table finish in the Premier League last season.
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has been in talks with the club chiefs in the past few days but is yet to commit to a future on Merseyside.
