Duncan Browne killer sentenced at court

Michael McLoughlin, who killed aspiring firefighter Duncan Browne at a Liverpool taxi rank, will be sentenced today.

Mr Browne, 23, was the victim of an unprovoked attack on Hanover Street in the early hours of Sunday, July 4, 2021.

The "mad Everton fan", from Kirkby, was punched by McLoughlin during an argument over a taxi at around 3.30am.

He suffered a broken jaw and a vertebral artery injury, which caused a bleed on the brain and cardiac arrest.

McLoughlin, 36, of Torus Road, Old Swan, who admitted manslaughter, will be sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court.

He will be joined in the dock by Terrence Kerwin, 34, of no fixed address, who admitted assault causing actual bodily harm, after he initially hit Mr Browne.
