Duncan Bannatyne has said Madeleine McCann cops should not be given yet more taxpayer’s money for the search.

The Scottish Dragon’s Den star took to Twitter to slam a request by police for more funds to continue the probe into Maddie’s disappearance .

Responding to a Sky News article about the request, the 70-year-old entrepreneur replied: “More funds from tax payer. I think not.”

Madeleine was three years old when she vanished from a hotel during a family holiday in Praia da Luz Portugal in May 2007.

Marking the 12th anniversary of her disappearance, parents Kate and Gerry McCann vowed to continue the search for their missing daughter “for as long as it takes.”

Scotland Yard announced that a “very small team” are working on the investigation and have requested more money to pursue “active lines of inquiries”.

Operation Grange was launched by the Yard after the failed Portuguese inquiry into Maddie’s disappearance. It has so far cost £11.75m.

We reported this morning that cops in Portugal have been given extra resources to investigate a potential new suspect in the long running probe.

Leading Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha reports that Policia Judiciaria investigating the mystery are looking at a “new clue” and “new suspect”.
