Duncan Bannatyne heaps praise on NHS as he shares heartwarming baby news

Duncan Bannatyne has heaped praise on the NHS as he celebrated becoming a grandfather once again.

The Dragon's Den star made the announcement on Twitter with a heartwarming message to his 700,000 followers.

He wrote: "Thank you NHS & Everyone at Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. My daughter arrived at your doors late yesterday afternoon and very soon after had a beautiful baby daughter.

"Thank you for working and being wonderful."

Family man Duncan is a father of a six and already has three granchildren.

The 71-year-old businessman has four children by his first wife Gail; Hollie, Abigail, Jennifer and Eve.

And two with his second wife Joanne; Emily and Thomas.

Duncan married third wife Nigora Whitehorn, 40, in Portugal in 2017.

The millionaire businessman hit the headlines for different reasons this month when he slammed celebrities -including Victoria Beckham and Richard Branson - for applying for millions of pounds from the taxpayer to bail out their companies during the coronavirus pandemic.

Branson is reported to have asked for a bailout to save Virgin Atlantic from collapse while Mrs Beckham put 30 of her employees on the government's furlough scheme to help pay their monthly salaries.

Hitting out on Twitter, Duncan said Branson, who is worth £4.05billion, should go to the bank himself if he needed help.

Duncan claimed he put £15m of his own money into his business last month, telling followers on Twitter: "I have gone to the Bank NOT the UK tax payer. The bank. A viable business will get money from a Bank."

Defending his comments about Branson, he added: "I never slated him I said he should go to the Bank for a loan not the hard working UK taxpayers that you show so little respect for."

Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan have also spoken out to criticise wealthy celebrities for seeking financial help from the government to help their businesses.
