Dunblane theatre group’s world record bid with 12 hour show production

A Dunblane theatre group will attempt to smash the world record for the fastest-ever theatrical production.

On Sunday, February 16, a cast and crew of nearly 200 people from the Rubber Chicken Theatre will take to the stage of the Macrobert Arts Centre in an effort to set the new record.

An adjudicator from Guinness World Records will be on hand to oversee the attempt.

The current record stands at 14 and a half hours but the ambitious theatre group are hoping to perform their production in just 12 hours.

The amateur company won’t find out which show they are doing until they open the box of scripts at 7.30am that day.

The show choice is independently selected and could be one of hundreds of musicals. They’ll then have just 12 hours to pull together the entire show – including learn lines, songs, choreography, as well as organising costumes, lighting, sound, set and props – before curtain up at 7.30pm at Stirling’s Macrobert Arts Centre.

Director Pamela Mackie said: “The chance to participate in an experience like this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for everyone involved – the excitement amongst our little performing arts family is huge already.

“With performers as young as eight through to retirees and beyond and a massive team of support crew it really is a huge community effort.”

The adjudicator from Guinness World Records will confirm the successful attempt at the end of the show.
