Dun Laoghaire residents furious at 'disgusting behaviour' as 'fools' leave public park covered in litter

Dun Laoghaire locals have been left furious after a local picnic area was covered in litter over the weekend.

Last week's hot weather saw a big increase in outdoor gatherings but unfortunately, some left their rubbish behind.

A concerned local posted a photo of the picnic area in the Salthill part of the town in a resident's group, captioned "no words for this."

Residents quickly began expressing their outrage at the "disgusting behaviour."

One said: "The council can provide bins but they can't provide brains for idiots."

Another commented: "Who do they expect to pick up their rubbish. Bring it home."

Some residents believe the pile of rubbish is sitting beside the ruins of a bin that had been set on fire.

One local explained: "This mess is a bin that had been set on fire. It was one of the large bins, that was put in recently after litter problems."

Another resident made a warning about disposable barbeques.

They said: "It's horrible and disgusting that this has happened but I will point out this could have been one of those disposable bbqs someone could have thrown in (the bin).

"People need to be careful of discarding these."
