Dun Laoghaire residents emotional as Bits and Pizzas restaurant announces closure after 32 years

Residents of a south Dublin town say they "feel like crying" after a hugely popular local restaurant announced it's closing down.

Bits and Pizzas has called it a day in Dun Laoghaire after 32 years as they say trade isn't what it used to be in the seaside town.

The news was a blow to devastated diners, with many commenting on how the "beautiful authentic" food was consistent throughout the years, Dublin Live reports.

The restaurant yesterday made the sad announcement that they're closing - but didn't rule out opening again at some point in the future.

They said: "We here at Bits and Pizzas have enjoyed 32 years of serving you.

"We would just like to express how much we have appreciated all the friends that we have made over the years and how much our customers have enjoyed dining with us.

"However, due to low levels of trade, we regret to inform you that Bits and Pizzas will be closing done for the foreseeable future.

"Thanks again to all our customers who have been supporting us for many years."

The post got over a thousands replies with man locals getting emotional over the news.

One said: "My family have been a regular fixture at B&P for literally my entire life (the past 27 years) and I have fond memories of the place from childhood right up to today.

"I've never tasted better pizza. Hard to express how sad this news is."

Another said: "I don't think I've ever felt like crying over the closure of a restaurant before.

"Wishing all the wonderful staff all the very best. Thank you for filling us with delicious pizzas and treats for so many years."
