Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown glowing with eco-friendly light installations and forest walks

Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has introduced exciting new 3D light installations and fairy forest walks to help the area glow over Christmas.

Several buildings will also be lit up to celebrate the festive season.

Where possible, all official Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Christmas trees are living trees and their lights are LED extra low voltage for safety.

In order to be as kind to the planet as possible, each set only uses 4.8 watts of electricity.

The lights on the Christmas tree in Cabinteely Park use 83% less electricity than a microwave.

Meanwhile in Marlay Park, the lights on the Christmas tree use 1,400 times less electricity than a shower and the the Christmas tree lights in Deer Park use 200% less electricity than an Iron.

The main parts of the illuminated Christmas walking trails in Marlay Park and Cabinteely Park are powered by electrical generators, fuelled by Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) Renewable Diesel.
