Dumped Love Island star Joanna ‘in limbo’ as she puts romance with Michael 'on pause'

Dumped Love Island contestant Joanna Chimonides revealed that she is “in limbo” about Michael Griffiths after he chose to stay in the villa following her departure.

After the islanders chose to save Anna Vakili and Jordan Hames over Michael and Joanna during last night’s episode, tonight’s instalment saw them pick the original contestant over his new love interest.

The reality hopeful, who joined part way through the series when the original girls headed off to Casa Amor, admitted that Michael’s choice was “disappointing” but said that she “respects” his decision and that she would “never hold that against him.”

“Part of me expected Michael to leave with me, however I don’t want to be in control of someone’s life journey and if he wants to continue in the villa, to get to know someone else or see where things go, I’ve got respect for that,” she said.

“I am a bit in limbo about how I’m feeling about Michael,” she added. “We got along well and had lots in common and laughed together but for me I need to put it on pause and then we can see what happens when he leaves the villa.”

She revealed that she was on “very good terms” with Michael’s ex Amber Gill, despite having to navigate a number of difficult situations with her during their stint in the villa.

“We were adults about it and I’m happy that she was happy to let her guard down and be good with me,” she said. “She’s a lovely girl, I’m a girls’ girl so we’re all good.”

Discussing the possibility of the exes rekindling their romance following her departure from the villa, she said: “Me and Michael will have to see how he gets on whilst he is in the villa and when he gets out, so for now there is a pause on us.

“You never know if he’s going to crack on with Amber. If they’re meant to be, they will be.

“If they do get together and are happy, I’ll be happy for them.”

Love Island continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2.
