Dumped Love Island star Jack Keating says time on the show was 'bittersweet'

Dumped Love Islander Jack Keating has admitted he knew he wasn’t going to be going into the villa after Thursday night’s brutal recoupling.

But the son of Boyzone singer Ronan Keating and former model Yvonne Connolly said he has “no regrets” going on the show.

Viewers complained how little air time the Dubliner was getting as it appeared he failed to make any connections with the girls while in Casa Amor.

"I went in there and was myself and I wore my heart on my sleeve and I have no regrets - I absolutely loved it. I definitely stayed true to myself.”

On Thursday night, we witnessed one of the most explosive Casa Amor recouplings in the show’s five-year history. As expected, Jay coupled up with new girl Chyna, and Danica came back from Casa Amor with Josh.

But in a dramatic turn of events, Dubliner Dami and Indiyah both went their separate ways as Dami coupled up with Summer, and Indiyah returned from Casa Amor with Deji.

Andrew and Tasha followed suit, as he decided to recouple with new girl Coco, and Tasha came back from Casa Amor with Billy. The only couples who decided to stick together were Ekin-Su & Davide, Gemma & Luca, and Paige & Jacques.

However, Paige and Jacques’s reunion quickly turned sour as new girl Cheyanne announced that she had formed a connection with Jacques while Paige was away.

Meanwhile, Jack said that leaving was "bittersweet" because his time went by so quickly - but he would definitely recommend it to a friend.

"I met some great guys and it was nice getting to know the girls. It just went up a bit too fast. As we were getting into it, it wrapped up. But I had a really great time, a great couple of days so no complaints!

"100%. I would tell them it’s pretty full-on but you’re going to have the best time of your life! Amazing experience and I would definitely recommend it."

The 23-year-old admitted he was "nervous as hell" before walking into Casa Amor. "Just before I walked in I felt fine but as soon as we sat down and started chatting to everybody I was like ‘oh my days- I can’t believe I’m here.’"

He wasn't too surprised that he didn't end up going into the villa. "I just went with the flow at that stage. I wouldn’t say it was a shock, I wasn’t 100% convinced I was going back to the villa but it was hard to tell."

He said Paige was the woman he was most attracted to on the show. "She’s a gorgeous girl and getting to know her was amazing. She was one of the nicest girls I’ve ever chatted to. She was so easy to talk to and I felt like I could talk to her about anything.

"When I first got in there I started talking to Tasha and we shared a bed the first night - it was nice to get to know her but in the end I didn’t feel like there was a spark there."

He said the party on the second night was a “great craic”. The ‘Raunchy Race’ challenge was great craic as well,” he added.

As for who he thinks will win the show, he's rooting for Gemma and Luca. "Gemma and Luca for sure. I feel like they are the most rock solid. I feel like they’re going to go a long way."

Elsewhere, Ronan and Yvonne have yet to comment on Jack’s exit. But Ronan had previously said that he was an “absolute mess” knowing Jack was going to be on Love Island.

Speaking on BBC’s The One Show, he said: "I'm a mess. I'm an absolute mess." He added: “He was very quiet, he seemed a little bit nervous which is understandable I guess.

“I hope he does okay. He's got such a big heart and he's a real softie. I worry about him in there with all those other guys.”

He added: "We miss him a lot in the house, and the kids miss him."
