Alex Miller has claimed Love Island bosses told him to up his game during his stint in the ITV villa back in 2018.
The structural glazier entered the dating show as a Casa Amor bombshell and instantly took a liking to OnlyFans babe Megan Barton Hanson. But Alex, 33, hadn't been successful in securing a date with Megan and claimed that his techniques to get her attention were failing.
He claimed that bosses behind the scenes pulled him away from the main group to offer him some invaluable advice on how to land a date with his dream woman. In a new interview, he claims a few stern words gave him a huge confidence boost.
"After a producer told me that my A game wasn't good enough, I told Megan plain and simple that I was keen," he said before adding: "Luckily it worked and she dumped Wes for me.
"Seeing Wes for the first time was a tad awkward and he didn't look best pleased. I respect him, but at the time I thought 'dry your eyes mate' as he'd only been with Megan for a few days," he told new magazine. Alex said that after the original male Islanders returned, things became a "nightmare" and he suddenly felt as though he was "intruding".
But things weren't meant to be for Alex and Megan after Wes cheekily chose her in a recoupling, meaning Alex was given his marching orders and put on the first Jet2 flight back to the UK. "I still wonder who Megan would have picked if she'd got to choose for herself," he said, although he insists that if he had a time machine, he would go back and choose a girl who was single at the time.
Despite Wes and Megan being separated for several days, they sailed through the show and placed fourth. But despite their relationship appearing to be the dream on the show, they split shortly after with Megan claiming he put finances and his budding music career before their romance.
"I don't have a bad word to say about him but that relationship broke down ultimately because of our priorities," Megan said on the Millennial Love podcast before adding that he was "rightly so" taking "every job under the sun".
Although their relationship fizzled out, Megan has made it no secret that she still holds a place for Wes in her heart although they have many different priorities.
