California's new governor found himself upstaged by his two-year-old son at his inauguration address.

Gavin Newsom, 51, was delivering his speech in state capital Sacramento when Dutch wandered onto the stage with a dummy in his mouth and a blanket in hand.

The telegenic Democrat didn’t miss a beat – continuing to deliver his words while bending down to pick Dutch up.

To laughter from the audience, he lifted his boy into his arms.
