Dumfries Wado-Kai teenager achieves black belt standard

A local karate kid has achieved his black belt recently.

Cameron Scobie, 14, started karate at Dumfries Wado-Kai in late 2015 but has been unable to train recently due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

After going through the junior syllabus system he progressed to the adult system and last week achieved his Shodan Black belt in Wado-Kai Karate.

Cameron was examined at the Honbu Dojo In Dunfermline by a panel including 8th, 7th and 6th Dan instructors.

The club is part of the Shuzoku Association and the Scottish Karate Governing Body.

Hard work, dedication and self-discipline provided young Cameron the opportunity at this young age.

He was presented by Peter Rogers 7th Dan.
