Dumfries sister's phenomenal fundraising effort sees more than £13,000 donated to Cancer Research UK

A phenomenal fundraising effort has resulted in more than £13,000 being given to a cancer charity.

In October, Charis Crichton, her husband Gavin, daughter Millie and a group of family and friends tackled a 10km Race for Life event.

The race was set up to raise funds for Cancer Research UK after Charis’ sister Lois was diagnosed with a rare form of the disease earlier this year.

Despite setting off with intentions of raising £1,000, Charis smashed that target and recently presented Cancer Research UK local representative Pat Jardine with a cheque for £13,366.

The handover took place at the Crichton car park where the race started and ended.

Charis said: “Lois is persevering with her treatment and continues to fight her brave battle with the ever lasting support of her family and friends.

“Thank you again with all my heart to each and every person that donated and sent messages of love and support to Lois.”
