Dumfries Rotary Club and the Food Train help distribute more than 150 food parcels for Christmas

More than 150 food parcels have been distributed to those who need it most in the region, thanks to the efforts of Dumfries Rotary Club and the Food Train.

Members of the club raised money by spending two days helping customers pack their bags in Marks & Spencer’s foodhall.

This huge effort is only possible because of the enthusiastic support from the management and staff of the store, coupled with the generous support of members of the public who provide the funds to make up the much-needed parcels.

These parcels are delivered by the Food Train, who know exactly where such treats are sorely needed.

Event organiser John Colbeck said: “In these difficult times, it is so rewarding to see how welcome these parcels are to the recipients and quite an eye-opener in many ways.

“We thank all those who have helped to make this possible – you can be assured that your generosity has contributed to provide some Yuletide cheer.
