A Dumfries business s havs closed temporarily due to a staff member testing positive for Covid-19.
The Bankbar and tapas restaurant were both shut to protect staff and customers, but will re-open next Thursday, July 8, after a deep clean.
Owner Adam Scott said: “The member of staff who has tested positive felt unwell late last week and the other eight members of staff are all isolating.
“However, the other eight have not shown any symptoms. First and foremost, we have to protect our staff and customers.”
The Whitesands venue had bookings last Friday for 300 people and a further 400 reservations for Saturday which were all cancelled.
Mr Scott added: “We have lost a lot of income. On top of the weekend loss there are usually about 100 people in each night, so that is probably over 1,000 bookings lost over the course of the closure.
“But as I said before, people’s health comes first and we must protect our staff and customers.”
Mr Scott and wife Laura also own the Italian restaurant La Dolce Vita in the town’s nearby Irish Street which has no Covid-19 issues and remains open.
News of the closure emerged after the owners posted a message on The Bank’s Facebook page.
It stated: “It is with great sadness that we will be closing our doors until Thursday, July 8 due to a staff member testing positive for Covid-19.
“We look forward to welcoming you all back on Thursday, July 8, and we apologise to all of our bookings that will now obviously be cancelled, text messages will go out to each of our bookings to confirm this.”
