Dumfries restaurant damaged by fire to stay shut for another month

A Dumfries restaurant which was damaged in a recent fire will be closed for at least another month.

Bruno’s Restaurant, on Balmoral Road, had to be evacuated at the end of June after a blaze broke out at the Balmoral chip shop next door.

The chippy suffered extensive fire damage with fire and smoke also affecting the adjacent Italian eatery.

The owners said they will be reviewing their situation every week but on Wednesday they provided an update on their Facebook page.

They said: “Unfortunately, Bruno’s Restaurant will remain closed due to loss of power and additional damage caused by the fire.

“We are working hard to resolve this and making steps to allow for return to business.

“At the moment all reservations up until August 23 will unfortunately be cancelled.

“We are continuing to contact customers booked in via telephone.

“We are working remotely at the moment, if you are trying to contact us, you can also contact us via email.

“We will be reviewing our reopening weekly, however we are unable to give a specific timescale at present.

“We endeavour to be up and running as soon as we can.

“Best wishes to our customers who we hope to see soon.”
