An 82-year-old woman has died in a Borders village after being hit by a tractor.

The pensioner, from Dumfries, passed away after being struck by a John Deere vehicle on the U230N road in Terregles village on Saturday, April 6 at around 1.40pm.

Officers from Police Scotland are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or was driving in the area at the time to get in touch with them.

A Police Scotland statement read: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this collision or may have driven along the road a short time before the collision and may have seen the tractor or persons walking on the roadway.

"Anyone who can assist should contact Police Scotland on the 101 number quoting incident 1991 of 06/04/2019."
