A Dumfries mum has hit out after car yobs sprayed a blue liquid over her disabled son.
Michelle Lavery is appealing for witnesses to come forward after her 15-year-old son Kyle Stevenson was attacked last week.
The teenager, who has autism as well as hearing and vision impairments, was waiting on a bus home outside the Dumfries YMCA on Lochside Road at 8.45pm on Tuesday, October 5, when the incident happened.
Michelle said: “Kyle saw the bus coming but before it arrived a silver car came out of nowhere, pulled up to the bus stop and sprayed him.
“They drove away just before the bus arrived at the stop.
“He got in the house and he was very quiet.
“He told me what happened and I was absolutely raging.
“Kyle goes to the YMCA on a Monday and Tuesday every week and I try to get him out as much as possible and something like this can set him back.”
Police are asking for anyone who was in the area or saw a silver car on Lochside Road at the time to contact them.
Michelle, 41, added: “If anyone has dashcam footage from the time that would be good too.
“I’m really angry at this.
“I keep encouraging Kyle to go out but I’m also worried that as the dark nights approach these people might keep doing this thinking it’s a laugh.
“But for someone like my son it’s really not funny and it can have a big impact.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information about it is asked to contact police on 101.
