Dumfries’ Mostly Ghostly team are having a busy run up to Hallowe’en with high demand for their spooky tours.
Kathleen Cronie, John Hill and Mary Wood are running four tours which are going down a storm.
They include the Dumfries Ghost Walk, Dark Tales of Old Annan and the Crichton Crypt Tour.
And tonight they are holding a Legends and Lore at Castle Loch tour from 7.30pm.
Kathleen said: “The atmospheric surroundings of Castle Loch in Lochmaben form the perfect backdrop to an evening of spine-chilling storytelling. We’ll be revealing the origins of the infamous vampire legend, telling of a fearsome curse laid on the Bruce family and share our own gripping experiences at the castle, all entwined with a spooky collection of local ghost stories.”
The Crichton Crypt Tours in the Crichton Memorial Church have proved so successful that the team have added extra dates in November.
This tour reveals some of the fascinating characters and events associated with The Crichton from its earliest beginnings, including an insight into the life of Elizabeth Crichton and the history of Easterbrook Hall.
There is an opportunity to explore The Crichton Memorial Church, Crypt and Undercroft, view historical artefacts, and hear a collection of ghostly tales and legends connected with The Crichton.
Among the latest to enjoy the Dumfries Ghost Walk were Dumfries Rotary Club members who, on a dreary night, were brave enough to weave through shadowy streets and claustrophobic closes to hear about unnerving accounts of murder, mayhem, hauntings and witchcraft.
Tickets are available online at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/whats-on?q=Mostly%20Ghostly%20Tours and the Midsteeple Box Office.
