Dumfries Lions Club have added a new dimension to their annual Christmas tree sale.
Families have been flocking to buy their fundraising trees at the December sales for decades.
The cash collected is used by the Lions during the year to help others in the community where a need is identified.
Last Christmas the club decided to run a competition inviting anyone who bought a tree from them to send in a picture of it decorated over the festive season to their Facebook page.
They were posted without any names and the winner of the inaugural best decorated tree contest has now been selected based on the highest number of “likes” attracted.
Yesterday, the winner was revealed as Rachael Murphy, who was presented with a certificate by Lions members.
She will also receive a free Christmas tree from the club this December.
Lions spokesman John MacColl said: “We were delighted with the response we received to the competition and congratulated Rachael.
“We would also like to thank everyone who took part in the competition and we look forward to seeing you at our sale later this year and hope that you will also enter the competition.”
