Dumfries junior parkrun holds Christmas themed run

Children and adults alike donned their festive costumes for a Christmas themed parkrun on Sunday.

Entrants left Dock Park in Dumfries at 9.30am, running around a 2km course and when they returned, there was a selection box awaiting them, kindly donated by Morrisons.

The junior parkruns have just resumed after a 20-month break due to Covid-19.

The runs take place every Sunday morning, organised entirely by local volunteers and the 2km family friendly event is designed for 4-14 year olds.

Children can run on their own or be accompanied by an adult and the ethos is fun run, not run to win, and entrants can either run or walk around the course.

The event is free and entrants can register at http://www.parkrun.org.uk
