Dumfries house smeared with paint just days after being cleaned following similar attack

A Dumfries house has been smeared with paint just days after it was cleaned following a similar attack two years ago.

The outside of the downstairs flat in Goldie Avenue was targeted between 5pm last Wednesday and 9.30am on Thursday.

Police are appealing for anybody who might have seen the vandalism take place, to contact them on the 101 number.

Two years ago, the outside of James Mullaney’s downstairs flat was smeared with white gloss paint.

He said it was one of a string of incidents he’d reported to police over the past 20 years.

At the time, Mr Mullaney said things were so bad he had been forced to sleep on the couch in his living-room after windows in his bedroom were smashed in.

Police confirmed there had been a number of complaints of antisocial behaviour and vandalism at addresses in Goldie Avenue, including at Mr Mullaney’s house, over the years.

The paint from the last attack had stayed on the building until just days before the latest incident.

Neighbours said the clean-up job took place, before the house was daubed in white, pink and green paint.
