Dumfries Food Train receives grant from Morrisons Foundation to buy new van and increase deliveries

Dumfries charity Food Train has been given new wheels to provide more meals and groceries.

The Morrisons Foundation donated £17,500 to help them buy a van to increase deliveries in the area.

Food Train regional manager Helen McAnespie said: “This allows us to increase our capacity to deliver vital grocery supplies to the most vulnerable older members of our local communities.

“Morrisons is already one of our shop partners that we work with on a weekly basis across Scotland and this additional support is very much appreciated by everyone.”

David Scott, a Morrisons Foundation trustee, said: “We are committed to helping the most vulnerable in our society.

“I’m delighted that we have been able to help fund a new van to enable Food Train to continue its vital work to support older people in communities throughout Scotland.”

The Morrisons Foundation was set up in 2015 and has donated more than £29 million to hundreds of charities.

Local charities can visit www.morrisonsfoundation.com to apply for a grant.
