Dumfries Farmers' Market makes eggs-cellent return on Easter Sunday

It was eggs-cellent news for traders and fans of Dumfries Farmers’ Market when it re-opened on Easter Sunday.

It hadn’t been allowed to go ahead since December because of the lockdown pandemic restrictions.

And it saw socially-distancing residents supporting local traders underneath the Victorian pavilion at Dumfries Train Station.

There were plenty of stalls selling local goods and produce at the well-supported market – the only in Scotland held at a railway station.

Organisers said they’d had a “bit of a nail-biting time” waiting to see if it could go ahead on Sunday and were thrilled to be back.

It also marked three years of holding the Dumfries Market Festival at the Station – making it easier for the public to access by foot or bike and having a roof over their heads while they shop.

The next one will be held in May.
