Engineer Jake Hart was almost left counting the cost of misplacing his wallet on his van’s bonnet – only to find it still stuck there days later.
The 32-year-old, from St Michael’s Street, Dumfries, had been driving unware that the wallet was lying on the lip of the bonnet near the windscreen before finally spotting it.
He said: “It was a bit crazy.
“I had popped into a garage to get a coffee near Newton Stewart after work and when I got back to Dumfries realised I’d lost my wallet with all my credit cards, cash and some coins in it.
“I couldn’t find it anywhere and called the garage to see if I had left it on the counter when I paid for the coffee but it wasn’t there.”
Jake works on servicing windfarms in Dumfries and Galloway and had been heading back from a job when the wallet went missing. He began hunting inside the van and at home to avoid having the hassle of cancelling credit and bank cards but to no avail.
He addded: “I lost the wallet on a Friday and it was only the following Tuesday when I was driving to Castle Douglas to pick up a work mate that I finally found it - stuck on the bonnet.
“It was kind of wedged on the lip and I had been driving for days with it stuck there so I was quite lucky.
“I only saw it when I parked up and despite all the rain the cards still worked and the wallet was still in good nick.
“All’s well that ends well.”
