Dumfries couple whose proposal was caught on camera final tracked down

A Dumfries couple have been tracked down months after a photographer snapped their proposal by chance.

Rebekka Easingwood and fiancé Martin Buchan got engaged overlooking Loch Lomond last October.

An amateur photographer was on a hotel balcony when he captured the happy couple moments after nurse Rebekka said yes.

The pair left before the snapper, identified as “Chris from Glasgow”, could get their details and he made an appeal to find the couple on twitter before a story appeared online.

Rebekka said: “One of my best friends, Emma Holmes, tagged me in a post on Facebook from Glasgow Live asking ‘Do you know this couple’ and I recognised us straight away.

“I was astounded and in disbelief.

“I was alone with our daughter Georgia as Martin was working and he doesn’t have access to his phone.

“When he came out at his break his phone, the same as mine, had been inundated with messages with other people in complete disbelief.”

The 27-year-old added: “We got engaged looking out at the loch which was beautiful and I was roughly six months pregnant at the time.

“There were people looking over when Martin proposed but we were oblivious to our photo being taken.”

Chris, who didn’t want to be identified, was on holiday in Luss when he spotted the 34-year-old popping the question.

He said: “It took me a moment to realise he was proposing. I took a picture and planned to offer to send it to them, but by the time I got downstairs they had already left.

“I was looking through old photos on my phone last week and when I found the picture I decided to finally do something about it.”

The couple have since contacted Chris to express their gratitude for the happy image.

Rebekka said: “I emailed him thanking him and he then forwarded the pictures.

“He had said that he had meant to search for us for months and was really glad he had found us. It’s really lovely to have had the moment caught on camera. I still can’t get over it.”
