Dumfries community donates more than 1,000 items to Apex Scotland's food bank

A Dumfries community has made a grand gesture for charity.

Residents of The 3 Craigs in Georgetown donated more 1,000 items to Apex Scotland’s Dumfries Food Bank after a collection during the Covid-19 compliant Christmas event they held on November 29.

The collection was the idea of the Dunlop family.

Mum Anna said they were always intending to donate a food parcel to those less fortunate than themselves, but when the residents of Craiglochar Avenue, Craigvale Court and Craigburn Court got together to plan their event she suggested a collection from all 39 addresses and the response was a resounding yes.

Anna’s daughter Lauren and son Thomas were in charge of the collection on the day and were kept very busy.

Anna said: “I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone from the 3 Craigs and beyond who donated items. We were completely blown away by the donations – as was the food bank.”

Anna is photographed handing over the huge donation, which filled the boots of four cars, to Fiona Dalgliesh, centre coordinator, Dumfries and Galloway at Apex Dumfries, Friars Vennel.
