Commonwealth Gold medal winner Rosemary Lenton was given a heroes return to her home in Dumfries by neighbours.
She arrived back to a street party in full flow with everyone eager to see her Gold medal won at the age of 72 with victory in the women’s pairs B6-B8 final alongside Pauline Wilson in Leamington Spa.
Rosemary (right), who was formerly a competitive sailor and cyclist, made her Games debut in the para bowls two decades after complications from a routine surgery led to her needing a wheelchair, and her neighbours were clearly thrilled to see her .
They even renamed their address to “Gold Medal Wynd” for the occasion.
Rosemary is involved in a variety of sports that help her to stay active.
In 2005 she began curling and also joined the Crichton Royal Bowling Club.
During the years she has represented Scotland at three World Bowls Championships, winning silver in the mixed pairs in New Zealand in 2015, and nine World Championships for wheelchair curling.
